PKROTATE2

PKROTATE2 is a dynamic Rotate command, very similar to the original PKROTATE. It includes all the rich features that allow you to visually and interactively rotate the selected entities, with one additional feature. Prior to rotating the selected objects, the command prompt asks to begin the rotation from a Reference point or object. Rotating your object with a reference point allows the use of precision modifiers to snap the rotation to neighboring features.

All the rotation features that PK commands are known for delivering continue to be available to this new PKROTATE2 command such as dynamic rotation characteristics supporting the favorite PK Data function of 15° snap rotation. As well as, at anytime during the dynamic display, the user can directly type an angle at the command line and hit enter.

What is the best way to use PKROTATE2?

To call this command, you can type PKROTATE2 at the command line. However, the most productive way to use PK Data commands is to integrate them into the Menu, so that it can be called efficiently when you are drawing.

Adding to your Menu

Before editing your menu, it is recommended that you backup the menu file. It can be found in the root directory of FastCAD or EasyCAD and is called FCW7.MNU or ECW7.MNU respectively. The backup file can come in handy if things do not work well after editing, you can always return to the original factory menu. In the CAD program’s root directory, you can find and launch NED4.EXE. FastCAD provides this as a text editor for making such customized changes. Use File > Open... to begin editing FCW7.MNU or ECW7.MNU. Scroll down to the “Rotate>” sub-menu area and change the commands just under that to read as follows:

Adding to your Icon Bars

If using the Reference point during dynamic rotation becomes more productive in your CAD work, you might consider replacing PKROTATE2 as the Icon Button rotation command. Refer to the original PKROTATE page to learn how to edit the configuration file that controls Icon Bars.
